From within that room of high ceilings, light air, and yellow wallpaper, the city rehearsed its chaotic symphony in the distance. Sasha and John had come from cold Siberia, bringing the white snow with them; with it, we played and moulded something like a mountainous wave right in the middle of the room.
We laughed at something I no longer remember, defying the verticality, feeling the snow’s fresh, icy caress beneath our feet with every step.
At the very tip, where the wave made its elegant curve, John had built a castle that hung from the canopy.
It was beautiful and perfect; we remained there, united in prolonged contemplation, as though the laws of gravity themselves were stretching before us, along with those of time.
